For the ninth consecutive month, imports declined with total expenditure amounting to $119.1mn, an 11.8% fall off when compared to the same month of 2008. On the other hand, for the second month, domestic export earnings continued its upward trend growing by 8.5% over the same period of 2008.

Belize’s Economy Rebounded by 8.2% in Third Quarter of 2008

While the level of economic activity between July and September of this year was characteristically lower than in each of the first two quarters, when compared to the corresponding period of 2007, the Statistical Institute of Belize estimates that Belize’s economy rebounded by 8.2% during the third quarter of this year. This puts growth for first nine months at an estimated 5.3%, the highest rate since 2003. For more detailed information please click here.
